Found a funny article talking about how one researcher believes that monkeys pay for sex by grooming female monkeys. I can’t believe that this researcher considers grooming payment. I could see if there was some kind of exchange of material good for sex, like maybe if a monkey brought bananas and then got laid, but I agree with this newsvine commenter who says that if you consider giving attention as payment for sexual relations, then everyone in world is paying for sex.

I believe it is a bad tag line for this story and the associated research, and I myself do not consider grooming someone as payment.

So they say that the stomach flu, or norovirus can be spread from computer keyboards from person to person. In an article from yahoo news / healthday

“There is evidence that shared objects and surfaces help transmit disease,” said Dr. Shua Chai, a CDC epidemiologist and co-author of the report, published in the Jan. 4 issue of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.

“This is the first time that we have demonstrated that keyboards and computer mice can be a source of transmission of norovirus,” he added.

Well they suggest regular hand washing as the main way to stop the spread of viruses like this, and they suggest washing your keyboard and mouse with a bleach water as well.

Of course I have other reasons to regularly wash my keyboard, just come home and find your sister picking her nose while surfing myspace and you will know that having some clorox wipes next to the computer is a good idea.

Of course there may be a new market for keyboard protectors… If I could just find them for less than $100, I think paying more than $20 for a keyboard is ridiculous.

So I have one of those guru friends, you know the one that eats wierd food, pracices tai chi and has that calm don’t srtess anything zen kind of attitude. Well he seuggested I get into some ba gua, I had never heard of this martial art mediatation kind of thing, but after an hour long conversation about the future benefits of it, he caonvinced me to look into it. I have not yet been able to find much information about it, but I did just find this DVD about Ba gua, which I may have to order just see some demonstration of what it’s about actually doing it.

Apparently there are not many teachers of this unusual movement system, but you can get similar benefits by doing tai chi, and from what i understand there are many health benefits to these internal martial arts as they are called, so I may do some classes and try to reap some benefits. It sounds great. we’ll see!

So I think everyone has seen the commercial or free credit report dot com, and I finally got a friend to get on there and get one, I think the site may have changed since the last time that I got a free credit report there. Of course there is an offer there, little is really free easily these days. Now if you read the fine print you find out that you can get a federal mandated yearly free credit report from annual credit report dot com. So save yourself a step and go there first.

The nation of haves and have notes - an interesting poll at the pew research center sheds some light on how different age groups think of themselves as haves and have nots. The funny thing to me is how many people are missing the big picture. I believe there are many people who think they are haves, but do not really see that their future is bleak. With the weakening dollar and the price of everyday items going up, people are not seeing that the future is not so bright for them

Sure it is easy to believe that everything is hunky dory when you have a flat panel tv and an xbox to play, but I know nay people who thought they had it well until they found themselves out of a job and no way to catch up with their current lifestyle. Add to that the lack of good retirement options, and how many people can’t afford the basic health care that should be available, I think with more education and a peek at the bigger picture, polls like this would show that there are many more have nots than people realize.
